Marathon Competition Rules & Policies

Eligibility to Participate

The PaddleWA Marathon Series is open to the general public.

Members of existing PaddleWA clubs have insurance cover, through Paddle Australia, for
personal accident and public liability.

Entrants who are not members of PaddleWA clubs will be charged an additional fee to cover for insurance (also through Paddle Australia) on the day of the race.

Note:
  • Paddlers who are not members of Paddle Australia will incur an additional $20.00 per race to cover their insurance for one day.
  • In order to be a paid-up member of Paddle Australia, a paddler must either become a member of a registered club or join Paddle Australia as a direct member: https://paddle.org.au/membership-information/#directprocess
  • Note Race Entries require Paddle Australia (PA) surname (family name) and Date of Birth. The PA number needs to be entered with a “PA” in capitals ahead of it and it needs to be six digits. If it is an old number that is less than six digits, it must be made up to six with zeros at the front of the number. Date of Birth needs to be entered as Year-Month-Day with hyphens in between.

  2. Paddle Australia Membership Details Required:
    • In order to be a paid-up member of Paddle Australia, a paddler must either become a member of a registered club or join Paddle Australia as a direct member: https://paddle.org.au/membership-information/#directprocess
    • Note that Race Entries will ask for Paddle Australia (PA) surname (family name) and Date of Birth. The PA number needs to be entered with a “PA” in capitals ahead of it and it needs to be six digits. If it is an old number that is less than six digits, it must be made up to six with zeros at the front of the number. Date of Birth needs to be entered as Year-Month-Day with hyphens in between.

  3. Entrants Details Required:
    • Personal and emergency contact.
    • Age (refer to dedicated section on age designation).
    • Race Division to be entered (see dedicated section on divisions).
    • Craft (refer to dedicated section on craft labeling).
    • Team boat members if applicable.
    • Race entry fees and payment by PayPal.
    • Entrants will also have to sign an insurance waiver (electronically).
  4. Guppy Paddlers:
    • Guppy entrants who are not members of an affiliated Paddle WA Club must nominate an
      individual to be their on-the-water escort on their entry. The insurance waiver for a guppy will
      be signed (electronically) by an assigned adult guardian.
