The course you have when – 1. the river runs dry and 2. the river turns brown….
Despite mother nature and the Water Corporation’s best efforts we were still determined to run our annual Northam to Toodyay, even if it meant being over 90kms further down the river.
We cannot thank Warren Southwell enough for his discovery of the sewerage spill at Viveash. Yes, he was literally paddling up “that” creek with a paddle.

Our wonderful paddling community and volunteers rallied as usual and a very successful race was had, including distribution of Avon Descent seeding points for those in the long course.
We may have been sans rapids, but there was still plenty of action out on the water. Enthusiasm and camaraderie was high, despite trying conditions.

It was a fantastic morning out, with the rain holding off long enough to not interrupt our post-race BBQ catchup and prize giveaways. A huge thank you to Canning River Canoe Club for once again providing a delicious burger and drink, you guys are amazing!

Keeping the barbie dry was clearly a top priority, and the ANA Rowing Club‘s massive marquee was the perfect solution! They were instrumental in helping us stay sane during the frantic Take 3 planning, and it was fantastic to see different codes coming together to support one another.
The inviting aroma of freshly roasted coffee from the Oarhouse Café was impossible to resist, drawing us in for a much-needed cuppa. We’re incredibly grateful for their generous support, especially in accommodating our last-minute changes and requests. With arguably the best view around, it’s the perfect spot to pause and refuel during your morning paddles.
A final thank you to all our volunteers who heeded our calls, helping us through the many challenges we faced. We cannot thank these incredible humans enough:
