Paddle Western Australia (PWA) is the State Sports Organisation responsible for the management, coordination, development and promotion of paddling in Western Australia. PWA is recognised by the State Government and represents the interests of its members to the government and the public.
PWA is committed to the provision of a high standard of competition, safety and opportunity for paddling participation in Western Australia.
PWA is recognised by WAIS, the Department of Cultural Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS), Department of Education, Department of Transport (Marine Safety) as the peak body in Western Australia for all paddling/kayaking interests, works collaboratively with our eleven clubs, eight (8) disciplines and their committees and approximately 1,500 members, instructors and coaches.
Operating in a commercial and inclusive manner with government, business and community, PWA ensures the value of competitive and recreational paddling is understood and supported in all policy and business decisions.

Our Performance Objective
To introduce and promote paddling in Western Australia through participation in the activity of paddling, for health, enjoyment, friendship, challenge and achievement.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Executive Officer (EO). There are no subordinates reporting directly to this position.
Key Stakeholder Relationships
This position will work closely with the following stakeholders:
- Paddle Australia, CITS, Healthway, PWA Disciplines, PWA Clubs, sponsors and media.
Principal Duties
- In collaboration with the EO, develop the marketing strategy and annual marketing calendar in line with the Organisation’s objectives.
- Develop and implement cross-platform marketing campaigns, including tracking, optimising and reporting.
- Responsible for compilation, application and acquittal of Grants as directed by EO.
- Build and improve social media presence across various platforms.
- Communicate the main message and idea to the target audience using social media.
- Ongoing maintenance of and reporting on campaigns and website analytics.
- Create marketing materials including event flyers, e-newsletters, web pages, paddle calendar and resource materials.
- Organise public relations activities.
- Collate and create an annual report for the AGM.
- Undertake regular marketing research on areas relevant to Paddle WA priorities.
- Participate in service and product improvement activities.
- Ensure consistent application of the brand.
- Undertake website content review and development.
General
- Partner with and work effectively and collaboratively across PWA and PA to achieve organisational goals, targets and objectives.
- Provide regular updates to the EO on progress and/or issues, as required.
- Proactively plan, manage, coordinate, track and run assigned tasks.
- Attend and participate in meetings and events as required.
- Uphold and foster a culture of high performance, excellence and continuous improvement within PWA.
- Conduct thorough checking of work by others and self-checking of information and documentation.
- Ensuring documentation is kept up to date and in good order.
- Undertake other reasonable tasks as delegated by EO.
- Maintain the Grant Register.
- Perform general office duties as required.
- Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position.
- Implement, participate and promote PA national program initiatives, protocols, values, policies, processes and procedures.
- Observe and comply with PA Policies (current copies available on the PA website at https://paddle.org.au/about-us/documents-policies-and-bylaws/).
- Participate in induction processes in relation to PWA and PA Policies, as required by PWA and PA, and undertake any other sports integrity education and training as determined by PA and PWA from time to time.
Key Skills and Experience
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing or equivalent experience.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Current Working with Children Check (within the meaning of the PA Child Safeguarding Policy).
Experience/Skill Level Required
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a marketing coordinator role or equivalent.
- Advanced computer skills and sound digital marketing software skills (e.g. WordPress, Google Analytics and Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva or similar).
- Demonstrable proficiency in digital and social media marketing using all existing platforms and knowledge/awareness of evolving platforms.
- Proven ability to connect the strategy to the tactical tools for broadcasting the message/brand and succinctly defining a message in just a few strong words.
Aptitude & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong sense of ownership, responsibility and self-direction with the ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team.
- Passion for excellence with a strong desire to excel and willingness to establish and strive to stretch goals.
- A willingness to learn, adapt and bring new ideas with the goal of continuing to improve.
- Strong professional communication (both verbal and written), negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity and ability to think outside the box.
Hours of work
This is a hybrid part-time position (30 hours per week) under a Working-from-Home Policy. The nature of the position may require out-of-hours and weekend work.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
