Marathon #3 Mandurah Canals

Race 3 for the Marathon WA Season is the Mandurah Canals Race, taking paddlers from the usual river race onto an estuary to compete. A well renowned event, boosting a fun opportunity to race in a different environment.
Registrations will open closer to the date.
Course Info
Long course: ~ 12.2km Race
Short course: ~ 9.5km
Directions for both course are as per map, with the short course entrants turning at Point 4.

Briefing: 8.15am
Race Start: 8.45am [Earlier if possible]
Safety
The event is very fun but involves four crossings of wide and potentially rough estuary. Unless you are very competent, as evidenced in previous Paddle WA marathon events, it is recommended you race in a surfski. Race organisers reserve the right to insist some paddlers to race in a ski. Any K1 paddlers are encouraged to use PFD.
Complicated Course: Turns in canals policed by Turn Marshalls with Hi-Vis Vests. Slower paddlers to start first & fast paddlers last to keep all together.
Boat Traffic, Choppy Water: See note above Canal Walls: Locals say there is a step, below water line, which will be good to stand on if you fall out.
Sun & Heat: Wear protective clothing, apply sun block, bring water to drink
