2025 Wildwater #5 Bells to Amiens Race

July 27, 2025 @ 9:00 am

Course:  Starting in the pool below Dog’s Breakfast, racing dowstream to Amiens Crescent.

Transport:  A car shuffle is required prior to Race Check In.

Due to the popularity of Bells Rapids Park in recent times, it is recommended that the majority of vehicles are moved to Amiens prior to race start.

Safety:  Due to the course being held in wild water conditions, it is necessary for all paddlers to wear helmets and Lifejacket’s. Each competitor should also have a whistle attached to their Lifejacket for emergency situations.

It is also recommended for all paddlers to have grab loops on their boats to assist rescue and for kayaks to have floats/buoyancy inside their boats to ensure boats do not fill with water in the case of a capsize. All kayak paddlers will require cockpit skirts with appropriate grab loop for ease of escape from a capsized boat.

Whilst we welcome paddlers of all skill levels, it is expected that competitors can self assess personal risk based on their own competency and the section of river and it’s associated levels. The race organisers and safety officials reserve the right to withdraw any competitor at any stage of the event if deemed necessary to ensure the competitors personal safety.

This is a moving water course where competitors follow a winding river consisting of exposed rocks and Ti-trees, with the added fun of a strong current. With only one rapid on this course, this is a great opportunity for new and intermediate paddlers to gather valuable experience prior to races later in the season with greater water flow, rapids and obstacles.

The race is open to all boats, with the Championship only open to boats classed as wildwater/downriver kayaks as per ICF regulations. These include overall length of no more than 4.5m, with no rudder (or with their rudder tied up)

Sundries Note (Boats not classed wildwater/downriver kayaks)

For those entering in the 2025 Sundries Series, you are eligible to race in non-WildWater/downriver boats only where you are in a competition type boat. Playboat and recreational type craft are not permitted to race.

This is a timed individual event, where Sundry competitors will receive a timed result and ranking, but will not be awarded season points towards the WildWater Championship.
